Bonner County Crime News Sources
Start local. The Bonner County Daily Bee's News of Record runs a police log covering Sandpoint, Ponderay, Priest River, and the Bonner County Sheriff's Office, updated often though it is not an official booking feed. The Sandpoint Reader adds county crime, court, and government stories at an uneven, story-driven pace. When a city arrest turns into a county booking, the Bonner County Detention Facility holds the custody record.
For the official layer, go to the sheriff. The warrant page, Public Reports, the Report Crimes route, and the Facebook account each answer a different question, and the current inmate PDF is the custody snapshot. Facebook also carries Most Wanted notices. None of these replaces the court docket.
Want a recurring local police-log view? The Daily Bee Records page is the best first stop.
This page gives county-wide context. For official custody and case records, check those sources separately.
Bonner News and Photo Coverage
The outlet map below puts official sources first. Secondary publishers come second. A source marked "Photos" sometimes shows or discusses an image. That label does not promise a standing gallery, a live photo feed, or a reliable identification service.
| Outlet or source | Coverage | Photos? | Where to look |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bonner County Sheriff's Office | Warrants, custody links, reports, public-safety notices | Social announcements may differ. Current PDF has no visible photo. | Official Public Reports, warrants, Report Crimes, and Facebook pages |
| Daily Bee News of Record | Near-daily police and dispatch logs for three city agencies and the sheriff | Generally no photo with each log | Records page and Police Reports |
| Hagadone News Network | Regional delivery and archive of Sandpoint records material | Story-level use varies | Sandpoint records archive |
| Sandpoint Reader | Intermittent Bonner County crime, court, and local-government stories | Occasional agency-supplied image in an individual story | Reader home and Bonner County tag |
| RecentlyBooked | Unofficial county-local copied booking material | Recent pages may display images | Bonner County page, subject to staleness |
| Mugshots.com | Unofficial historical county index, including old booking or warrant records | Some entries, some “No Mugshot Available” results | Bonner County index, not a current roster |
| BustedNewspaper | No Bonner County, Idaho local page was verified | No verified local coverage | Do not substitute another county |
| Arrests.org and Mugshots.zone | No verified Bonner County, Idaho section was located | No verified local coverage | Treat the absence as an absence, not as a local feed |
County-level secondary pages can blend booking material, warrants, and older items with no clear separation. Rank the sheriff, city police, the court, IDOC, or a written records response above them every time.
How Bonner Booking Photos Reach News
Idaho Code section 20-601 allows a booking photograph during county-jail intake. Publishing it online is a different matter. The sheriff is not required to do it. The Bonner County public report shows the gap plainly. The official PDF lists custody and offense fields, with no photo in view. A newspaper may get an agency-supplied image for one story. A publisher may instead request a record under the Idaho Public Records Act. Neither route builds a permanent public gallery.
The Daily Bee app report covered Idaho Sheriff Connect, which once showed current-inmate booking images and case alerts. Apple reviews later noted that images vanished from the inmate view. That is an access change, not current photo policy. So do not read an old article that way. Check the live app first. Then the current PDF. Then the Records Department.
A story's photo may come from the sheriff, a city agency, a prior release, or a source named in the piece.
App behavior shifted after that report. Current access needs a live check, not a standing promise.
From Bonner News to the Record
A name in the news is only a clue. Work the record path one step at a time: the event, the agency, the custody state, then the legal outcome.
- Record the name, date, agency, and case details printed in the story. Do not copy an image as proof.
- Open the county Public Reports current inmate list and search the name. Read the Arresting Agency and dates around the match.
- If the person is not listed, contact the arresting city police department or sheriff. The Daily Bee log is not the same as an official report.
- Request the booking record or photo from the correct custodian when the public report has no image or the event is old.
- Search iCourt by party name or related case number. Read the disposition rather than stopping at the booking charge.
Charges can change after an arrest. A report may describe an arrest or a warrant, but the court disposition controls the legal result.
The county-wide Bonner custody and records path walks through the current PDF, photo requests, the court, DOC, and federal fallbacks in more detail.
Bonner Police Logs Cross Three Cities
The Daily Bee folds Sandpoint, Ponderay, Priest River, and the Bonner County Sheriff's Office into one police-log stream. That makes a cross-city scan easy. It also risks blurring things. A dispatch call, an arrest fact, and a county booking are three different record events. They are not one thing.
An editor's note on the log warns that some entries lack a numbered location or other detail, because Bonner Dispatch did not supply it. Leave the gap alone. A police records request handles the report. The jail's current PDF handles county custody. The court handles disposition. The combined News of Record example shows how one log can carry several local agencies in a single county item.
The Sandpoint Reader's Bonner County tag adds story-level coverage on an intermittent cadence.
Local reporting adds context around the official record. It cannot turn a county-wide log into a city-only roster.
Sandpoint Reader Crime Coverage
The Sandpoint Reader takes a story-based approach to Bonner County crime. One past report credited a Bonner County Sheriff's Office mugshot alongside an individual crime or court story. So agency-supplied photos do surface in its coverage. That single credit, though, is not a daily mugshot policy.
The paper also covered a records dispute with a useful lesson. A city arrest and a county booking can split apart. When a name from a news story is missing from the county PDF, check the city custodian, the sheriff, and the court before assuming the story was wrong.
The sheriff's office does not appear in this run, so rely on the Reader's home page for its local identity and broad public-affairs coverage.
Story-level reporting can be valuable, but the official agency and court records remain the verification path.
Unofficial Bonner Mugshot Pages
RecentlyBooked has a verified Bonner County page that says it gathers public booking data and refreshes more than once a day. Its dates and counts are dynamic. The page is unofficial and can retain a record after the county source changes.
Mugshots.com has a verified Bonner County index with older booking or warrant material, including examples from 2012 and 2017 and entries marked “No Mugshot Available.” It is historical coverage, not same-day custody. It may mix record types or preserve stale information.
The two publisher policies offer free documentation-based correction routes. RecentlyBooked's policy lists incorrect, duplicate, juvenile, dismissed, expunged, sealed, or restricted records as possible reasons for correction or suppression. Mugshots.com's policies describe free changes or removal for listed legal outcomes with supporting court documents. These are private policies, not Idaho law.
BustedNewspaper's general free removal form was located, but no Bonner County Idaho page was verified. No local Arrests.org or Mugshots.zone section was verified. Do not use a neighboring county to fill the gap.
The RecentlyBooked Bonner page is secondary and should be checked against the official county report.
This kind of page can help locate a lead, but its update claims and images need official verification.
The Mugshots.com Bonner County index is likewise historical and unofficial.
Historical copies are not a current custody answer and should not be treated as a complete record.
Bonner App Reporting Changed Access
Idaho Sheriff Connect is a real local access route, but its photo behavior changed. The Daily Bee reported a 2025 public launch with jail information, a records request form, current-inmate booking images, follow-case notifications, and an anonymous tip button. The current store descriptions are more general. Apple reviews dated May 27 said inmate pictures no longer appeared, while Google reviews noted other reliability concerns.
Use the app for the functions it currently shows. A real-time update label does not mean every booking or release creates a public alert. No separate county booking alert or VINE-style photo service was located.
The app's report of a photo is best read as a dated policy change. The official PDF and written Records route remain the safer sources when the live selection has no image.
News Is Not a Disposition
A news story can be accurate about an arrest and still be incomplete about the case. The booking charge is the allegation entered at intake. A prosecutor may amend it. A judge may dismiss it. A person may be acquitted, plead to a different offense, or receive a sentence. Only the court record answers that later question.
Use the Bonner County current report for present county custody, the arresting agency for the incident report, the sheriff's Records Department for a maintained booking photo, and iCourt for the disposition. A photo published with an old story does not prove current custody or guilt.
If a person later moves into Idaho state custody, the Idaho Department of Correction search is a separate source. It is not a continuation of a news item or the county jail roster, and the public search reviewed did not show a photo field.
Follow the case. A local article is a lead. The official roster, records request, and court docket tell different parts of the story, and each must be dated.
The city pages for Sandpoint, Priest River, and Ponderay apply the same county custody distinction to local police records.
